Bonga

.

Bonga Kwenda (born José Adelino Barceló de Carvalho), better known as Bonga, is a pop singer and songwriter from Angola. He has released over 30 albums, singing in Portuguese and traditional Angolan languages. His tracks are a mixture of Portuguese folk sounds, semba, kizomba and latin elements.

Semba is a traditional type of music from the Southern-African country of Angola. Semba is the predecessor to a variety of music styles originated from Africa, of which three of the most famous are Samba (from Brazil), Kizomba (Angolan style of music derived directly from Zouk and Caribbean rhythms) and Kuduro (or Kuduru, energetic, fast-paced Angolan Techno/House music, so to speak). Semba comes from the singular Masemba, meaning "a touch of the bellies", a move that characterizes the Semba dance.

Semba now is fused with Zouk, kompa, Merengue, Rumba and other rhythms while still keeping traditional instrumentation. Other styles related to the Semba is Rebita, which is inspired by European line dances, as well as Kazukuta and Kabetula which are primarily Carnaval Music. ( Wikipedia )
